چکیده
Infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive within a certain period of time one to two years of frequent unprotected intercourse [1]. It is seldom a physically debilitating disease, but couple’s psychosocial harmony is severely affected. The important causes of infertility in female are tubal and peritoneal factors (25-35%), ovulatory factors (30-40%), endometriosis (1-10%) [2]. Among the ovulatory factors polycystic ovarian syndrome is an important cause of infertility. Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) affects 4% to 12% of women of reproductive age [3]. This syndrome can result from abnormal function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis. It is associated with important reproductive morbidity including infertility, secondary amenorrhoea and increased pregnancy loss.

Serum gonadotropin and prolactin levels in females with primary infertility and thyroid dysfunction in North Indian population
Adequate levels of circulating thyroid hormones are of primary importance for normal reproductive function. Patients with subclinical hypothyroidism have no symptoms or very few symptoms related to thyroid disease, but may have adverse outcome on fertility but are not referred to infertility clinics. Galactorrhea and hyperprolactinemia patients may have primary hypothyroidism. The aim of this s...
متن کاملStudy on Thyroid Hormone, FSH, LH and Prolactin Levels in Patients with Primary Infertility: A Hospital Based study
s The thyroid dysfunction, which is quite prevalent in the population, affects many organs including male and female gonads, thus interfering with the human reproductive physiology. Prolactin has suppressive effect on the pituitary –ovarian axis and may result in amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea due to anovulatory cycles. Hyperprolactinemia is a common problem in reproductive dysfunction, affecting...

Background: Hyperprolactinemia is a particular concern in the treatment of schizophrenic patients. The side effects associated with high prolactin levels can have a negative impact on GnRH pulsatile secretion and, consequently LH, FSH and testosterone pulsatility and follows by, on special testicular cells that have these hormon’s receptors such as sertoli and leydig cells. Quantification the d...
متن کاملPlurihormonal cells of normal anterior pituitary: Facts and conclusions
INTRODUCTION plurihormonality of pituitary adenomas is an ability of adenoma cells to produce more than one hormone. After the immunohistochemical analysis had become a routine part of the morphological study, a great number of adenomas appeared to be multihormonal in actual practice. We hypothesize that the same cells of a normal pituitary gland releases several hormones simultaneously. OBJE...
